ANITA KIRKLAND
What do you do? Full-Time: I am a Real Estate Closing Agent for First National Land Title Co., Inc. I am also a server for Christopher’s Uncorked Bistro.
Where are you from? I was born and raised in Maine. I moved to California shortly after graduation and finally settled in Fort Walton Beach, FL in 1984. Maine will be home but Florida is my life.
What are some of your greatest accomplishments? I am the proud mother of two children. My daughter, Ashlee is in her final year at UWF. My son, Daniel works for Federal Express and wishes to join the military in the near future. Being a mother would be at the top of my list of greatest accomplishments. Taking the step to move from my hometown to see the country and be successful in business is also something I am proud of.
What are your hobbies or things you enjoy doing when you're not working? Well, everyone knows I LOVE FOOTBALL!! As I’ve gotten older, nothing brings me more peace then to be in the woods or just outside with nothing but the sounds of nature.
Tell us about the positions you have held before moving into your current position. I was a server and hostess for many years; received my first business job at Metric Systems as an assistant and then an expeditor. Mostly Office Manager and Assistant positions specializing in accounting, business, etc.

How have you grown since joining ABWA? Tremendously, would be the best word to descirbe my growth. I have learned to be more outspoken, introducing myself first. Overcoming the fear of speaking in public was a huge accomplishment. I have made many new friends and learned a wealth of information that has enabled me to grow both personally and professionally.
Are you a member of any other business clubs or groups? I am a member of NOMC Healthy Women and maintain chamber membership through work and organizations. I have also been a Notary Public for almost 20 years.
What would you consider as your greatest challenge? Surviving the economy.
What drives, inspires and motivates you? My children and family.
Who would you consider as your role model? That would have to be my mother. As a single mother she raised 4 kids, working numerous jobs and bestowing strong family values and morals, she is a remarkable woman.
What is the phrase or saying that you live by, day-to-day? Anything can be fixed!
Who would you like to invite to speak at our ABWA meeting if cost weren't an issue? Robin Roberts, having heard only a fraction of the story of her life and accomplishments in her career and health is inspiring.
